Projekt DRUGI DOM se je zares začel z odprtjem uradne strani DRUGI DOM na družbenem omrežju Facebook. Od meseca februarja 2014 smo pridobili več kot 6700 podpornikov, somišljenikov in prijateljev, kar je za tako drugačno stran veliko več od pričakovanega. V tem kratkem času smo tudi uradno postali društvo za pomoč osebam s posebnimi potrebami - DRUGI DOM in imeli več uspešnih predstavitev v medijih.

DRUGI DOM bodo manjše "hišice" na več lokacijah po Sloveniji, torej manjše bivalne enote, kjer bo sobivalo največ pet oseb s posebnimi potrebami. Zavzemamo se za to, da bodo naši otroci, takrat mladi odrasli, imeli pravico do drugega in hkrati doma, kjer bodo preživeli preostanek svojega življenja. Pogosto se namreč dogaja, da so nameščeni v neprimerne ustanove ali celo domove ostarelih. Podarili smo jim življenje in naša dolžnost je, da poskrbimo za njihovo prihodnost tako, da bo prehod v DRUGI DOM postopen in čim manj stresen, hkrati pa bomo straši za čas svojega življenja imeli možnost vpliva na to, kako bo, ko nas več ne bo, teklo življenje naših otrok.

V DRUGI DOM bodo lahko stanovalci s seboj prinesli vse, kar jih bo spominjalo na prvotni dom, predmete, ki so jim dragi in brez katerih bi težavnega prehoda brez podpore staršev, ne zmogli. Podpiramo ohranjanje smisla družine, kjer bo vsakemu stanovalcu zagotovljen prostor in intima, istočasno pa nuden potreben support (podpora) zaposlenega osebja. Hkrati nam bo vodilo individualna obravnava vsakega posameznika po njegovih potrebah in zmožnostih. Stojimo pa tudi za stališčem, da nobena inštitucija, kamor osebe s posebnimi potrebami odhajajo po odločitvah ustanov in uslužbencev, s katerimi se takrat tudi prvič srečajo, ni približek doma.

V DRUGEM DOMU bodo zaposleni ljudje, ki ne bodo nujno strokovno usposobljeni, temveč bodo imeli predvsem simpatijo, veselje ter potreben čut do sobivanja z osebami s posebnimi potrebami, ali pa so z njimi živeli morda že v prvotnem domu. Predvsem pa nam ostaja vodilo misel, da s sprejemanjem dejstva, da staršev več ni, ne izbrišemo njihove preteklosti, temveč ohranjamo spomin nanjo, vsaj na tistih področjih, kjer jim to zmoremo in dolgujemo omogočiti.

SOCIETY SECOND HOME

  1. The mission of the society

The society is meant for solving distresses and problems of people with special needs and their parents. It is intended for young people with different physical and mental disturbances, who no longer attend regular schooling. The society is also meant for supporting, informing, protecting, guarding and finding the placement for individuals with special needs when they lose their parents.

  1. Basic programmes of the society

- The programmes of morning and afternoon care, spending quality free time and holiday activities.

- The programme of the group for self-help:  gaining awareness, educating and informing parents of children with special needs as well as broader public, about the problems of disability and the acceptance of people with special needs by the society.

        3.    The performers of the programme:

Employees, volunteers with expert knowledge and the members of the society.

Introduction of the programmes:

The care programme will be based on creating the conditions similar to the ones in a family, in small groups and in a pleasant environment. Young people should spend their time actively, being occupied with activities of their choice and interest.

The abilities for better independences are going to be encouraged and so will the incorporating into society.

The programme will include:                                                                                                                                               

Recreation, relaxation, encouraging mutual communication, motivation for a bigger independence, self-care, hygiene, dressing up, cooking, using different utensils (in accordance with capabilities), looking after the surrounding, cleaning up, invigorating the independence, raising self-confidence, supporting positive attitude and friendly relations with cohabitants.

The programme of the group for self-help is intended for parents and their relatives in different situations in life, executed over the telephone or carried through a personal contact. The parents are going to get the support, have the possibility of meeting with others and exchanging the experiences.
